French Championship Unlimited 2020

The French championship took place from 16 to 19 September at Châteauroux- Villers.

The week before the championship, we had our last training camp at Saintes. Everything went very well. We were warmly welcome by the aero club, and I wish to thank them  in my name and the other participants’. They were fabulous and enabled us to train in exceptional conditions.

We arrived in Châteauroux on 15 September after an hour’s flight from Saintes to Châteauroux.  That evening during the briefing, we drew our numbers for next day’s first programme. I drew number 11 out of 20 competitors.

Next day for the first programme, the Known, I flew mid-afternoon. The flight went well, I was very happy with myself, a very good flight, a few slight errors, but overall, a satisfying performance in my eyes. I saw some points of improvement, in view of the Open de France. I obtained the very good mark of 77.151% on this programme

On the second day of the flight, for the Unknown programme, I flew in 5th position.  As of this year, there is a new rule for the flying order, which means that we don’t fly several times in the first positions, which is rather good. For the first flight, I flew half way down the list, then for the second flight at the beginning, and for the last programme, I flew at the end.

The second flight went well, it gave me an extraordinary feeling, I was very happy with my performance, which was dynamic, precise, focused. As a result a super mark of 79.508%.

On the third and last day of the competition, we flew programme Unknown n° 2.  I was in 20th position, i.e. last of my group.  Pressure built up quickly throughout the day, as the level was extremely high and I saw the results which were impressive and I realised then the general level of the Unlimited pilots, the French top 10 being often included in the world top 10. All that increased the pressure.  But I managed to stay cool, and thanks to my good physical, mental and technical preparation, I started my flight with serenity, feeling confident that I could do as well as my fellow pilots. And this is what happened, I did a great flight, I was very happy with myself, full of emotion after my performance. I did not take too much notice of the marks, that was not my objective, which was to show my best level, and the best version of my potential. I got the excellent mark of 79.471%.

Thanks to my overall mark of 78.728%, I finish 6th overall and 1st female, which gives me the title of Elite French female champion 2020.

I was able to observe the best and I realise there is still a lot of work to accomplish to reach the top world level. I know today that it is possible. I continue to work very hard so that during the next competitions, I can come even closer to the level of our champions, as I finish just behind 5 world champions. I am really proud, whatever happens next, to have reached this level. I wish to renew here my thanks to my sponsors, my team and all the people who supported me from the beginning, even in difficult times, and of course, my super coach, Pierre Varloteaux.

New objective, Open de France, from 13 to 16 October at Orange Plan de Dieu, where I will give my best and I hope that I will be able to tell you a new beautiful story very soon.
